“This is an absolutely compelling and powerful read… It made me weep and rage with anger, but ultimately it is filled with hope.”

“I wonder whether the politicians that talk of ‘tackling the people smugglers’ have any real idea of how this fractured and secretive network of ‘agents’ actually functions. This book is essential reading if one wants to discover it.”

“It’s not often you read a book that truly changes you, but this was definitely one that did for me.”

“Gulwali’s mother made the biggest sacrifice a mother can make – she paid to get her two older boys out of the country, desperate to keep them out of the Taliban’s clutches where they would have been expected to avenge their father’s death and possibly be groomed to be suicide bombers.”
