Clothing needed for asylum-seekers and refugees
Since 2015, Ripon City of Sanctuary has been collecting donations for asylum-seekers and refugees in the wider region. We make fortnightly visits to the Initial Accommodation Centre, Urban House, Wakefield; around 100 asylum-seekers arrive at Wakefield each week, and very many have almost no clothes. We also take donations to Open Doors, a project based at Princes Avenue Methodist Church in Hull.
We are very grateful for the generosity of many people in Ripon and the surrounding villages, who have regularly given good-quality clothing for men, women, and children of all ages.
We currently need:
- Good-quality warm winter clothes, including coats/jackets
- Good-quality second-hand shoes
- Towels
- New underwear for children
- PLUS buggies/pushchairs.
Where to leave your donations
Donations should be taken to Allhallowgate Methodist Church, Ripon. Bins marked up for donations can be found to the left-hand side of the new doors.
